Learning-Phase Checkpoints

Learning Phase Checkpoints provide a structure where we can use a collaborative and transparent approach to identify, monitor and communicate the essential elements of our learning programs and a student’s performance (strengths and opportunities for growth) over the learning cycle.

Learning Phase Checkpoints occur at the end of each phase of the learning cycle.

1. Support our learning program development and allow us to:
   • identify, record and track the essential and enduring knowledge development of our students over a unit, a semester, or even year/s.
   • identify and communicate key learning opportunities that will be used for learning engagement and evidence.
   • assess learning growth and achievement based on a range of evidence.
   • moderate and adjust the learning program in response to the learning evidence collected.

2. Provide us with the opportunity to share positive feedback to each student and their parent/guardian that is timely, personal and targeted at point of need to aid learning growth. It is also an opportunity to highlight the progress students have made developing their capabilities (learning behaviours), knowledge and skills throughout a unit of learning.
3. Provide opportunities for student agency, enabling students to self-assess and communicate this with teachers and families.
