Homestay Program

Viewbank College provides homestay accommodation for international students aged 15 years and over. Our homestay families come from diverse cultural and personal backgrounds. All placements are carefully selected to ensure a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, and homes are audited regularly to maintain our high standards.

All homestay hosts will offer:

  • a separate single room for the student’s sole use with a bed and wardrobe
  • a clean and tidy household with access to shared living areas
  • 3 nutritious meals a day, 7 days a week, with reasonable access to snacks and in accordance with the student’s dietary and medical needs
  • household items such as towels, linen, blankets, eating and cooking utensils
  • kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities
  • reasonable access to utilities, including gas, electricity, heating and water
  • clean common living areas
  • study facilities including a desk, study light and bookcase
  • any keys, alarm codes or passwords required for the student to access the homestay
  • working fire alarms throughout the home.
  • All residence in the household over 18 years old will have a working with children check

We have several families offering homestay to students who have applied to come here without family. Generally, we would expect students to remain in homestay until the end of their course at Viewbank College. Homestay providers are selected carefully and go through an application process. All homestays are monitored closely and visited regularly by the college.
