Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved as a parent or community member at Viewbank College.

College Council

All government schools in Victoria have a school council. A school council directly influences the quality of education that a school provides to its students. The work of the College Council, among other responsibilities, is to:

  • Establish and articulate the broad direction and vision of the school within the school’s community
  • Develop and monitor the school Strategic Plan
  • Review and update school policies
  • Raise funds for school related purposes
  • Approve the annual budget and monitor expenditure
  • Maintain the school’s grounds and facilities
  • Stimulate interest in the school generally

College Council nominations are called for in February each year, and where nominations exceed available places, an election held in March.

The College Council President for 2020 is Mr David Green.

Viewbank College Friends of Music

Friends of Music (FOM)

Friends of Music (FOM) is group of parents who are interested in supporting the College’s excellent and extensive Music program. They meet once a month on a Thursday evening in the Conference Room and the successes of the annual Autumn Brunch, Autumn Night, Music Showcase and the Gala Concert are in large part due to the dedicated and generous support from this group.

Friends of Music also initiates other fundraising events to provide extra support to performing groups and to purchase and upgrade musical instruments. In 2008/09, the Friends of Music raised funds to purchase a grand piano and help support the stageband that travelled and performed in China.  Please check the school calendar for concert and meeting dates.  Parents interested in joining Friends of Music should contact our Assistant Principal, Mr. John Munro

Friends of the Performing & Visual Arts Committee

Friends of the Performing & Visual Arts (FOPAVA)

The Friends Of Performing And Visual Arts (FOPAVA) committee meets monthly and consists of parents and teachers, with input from College captains.

FOPAVA has a number of specific objectives including:

  • Raising the profile of the Visual and Performing Arts in the College and the community
  • Having fun, enjoying and appreciating the Arts
  • Encouraging student participation in the Arts

The committee supports activities such as the College Production, Arts Expo and drama performances throughout the year. One of its prime functions is to raise funds for the purchase of new equipment for our Theatre and Art faculties. We are always looking for new members and we extend a warm welcome to all parents/members of the College community.
