Viewbank College is a zoned government secondary school. This means the College must follow the Department of Education’s school placement policy, which guarantees enrolment for students who live within our designated neighborhood zone.
Our zone covers Viewbank and parts of Rosanna, Yallambie, Heidelberg, Banyule, and Lower Plenty. Please note that zoning boundaries are determined by the Department of Education and may change from time to time.
You can check whether your home address falls within the Viewbank College zone by visiting the Find My School website. Simply enter your residential address in the search box to see your designated neighborhood school.
Families who live within the Viewbank College zone are given priority for enrolment.
If you live outside the zone, you are still welcome to submit an enrolment enquiry. Out-of-zone applications are considered in line with Department of Education placement priorities and are subject to available space at the relevant year level.
Your child’s address is where they permanently reside at the time of seeking enrolment. If your child lives at multiple addresses, their permanent residence is the address at which they spend most of their weekdays. Proof of residence may be required to confirm eligibility for in-zone enrolment.
ADF Families
Viewbank College is proud to support Australian Defence Force (ADF) families. We understand that transitioning between Defence postings can present unique challenges for students and families, and we are committed to providing a smooth and welcoming experience.
We accept enrolments from ADF families who live outside our zone. Please follow the same process to seek an enrolment at The College.
The College has a Defence School Mentor (DSM) to assist and support ADF families in their transition between Defence facilities across Australia. This is a relatively new position at the College.
Our DSM, Raelene McKenzie, is available Monday – Thursday via the College phone number (9458 2811) or by email at Raelene.McKenzie@education.vic.gov.au
Raelene provides information, support, and referrals to Viewbank students and parents from ADF families. She offers assistance in a range of areas, including:
- One-to-one counselling and support
- Peer mentoring and focus groups
- Coordinating student events and parent meetings
- Monitoring student attendance and wellbeing
- Referrals to external agencies where appropriate
Year 8 – 12 Enrolment
For students seeking entry into Years 8–12 or Year 7 semester 2, applications can be made directly to the College. Enrolment is subject to availability and Department of Education placement criteria.
Out-of-Zone Applications
While Viewbank College gives priority to students who reside within our school zone, out-of-zone applications are considered if space is available. Applications from outside the zone are assessed in accordance with Department guidelines.
